Oak Wilt Removal
What Is Oak Wilt?
Oak wilt is an infectious tree disease caused by the fungus Ceratocystis fagacearum. The fungus destroys the water supply of vulnerable oak trees. It overruns and incapacitates the trees water-handling systems.
While all oaks are susceptible to oak wilt to some extent, there are some species that are widely affected and even act as channels for spreading the tree disease.
A live oak can die within a 1 to 6 month period after initial symptoms. Some trees can survive for years as they decline. Red oaks are heavily impacted by oak wilt and can die within 3 to 4 weeks after symptoms appear.
